Funky Fish and Friends

Never, in my wildest dreams, did I think I’d ever be using my Fine-arts degree to design and paint funky fish out of discarded palm husks. But after teaching art in a Virginia Beach  public school for twenty years, I was ready for a new direction in my life. So I packed up my paint brushes, our two dogs, and moved to South Florida.

I’ve never looked back…..not even once!

Now, after nearly two decades in the sun, my husband Jim & I are having the time of our lives. Whether hiking through the everglades or paddling our kayaks through the glistening Florida Keys, I have become an avid outdoors woman. My love for everything under-the-sun naturally makes me concerned about our fragile environment.

Committed to living as “green” as I can without being a fanatic, I decided it was time to practice what I preached. My newest creations, which I call “Funky Fish & Friends” are made with lightfast, eco-friendly paint and reclaimed vegetation.

I am honored that my colorful, whimsical work has found its way into so many galleries, private collections, and public venues. But more than that, I love the fact that it simply makes so many people smile. For me, that’s what it’s all about.
